to and is f t e r - part the the University he Canisius with Radio also in 200 Attend Hinsdale Sports Night Affair Approximately 200 persons at the first annual Sports Night banquet of Hinsdale Central School Tuesday heard an interesting interesting and informative talk on football, baseball and basketball basketball by Eddie Sawyer, manager of the Philadelphia team c£ the National Baseball League. Mr. Sawyer augmented his talk with movies that included "Football Thrills of "49." "Fun damentals of Basketball" and scenes from the A 11 -"-^ 1 " bnse- ball game of 1948. The Philadelphia Philadelphia diamond boss also revealed that, within a few weeks, he will head a group of baseball major league stars to Germany where they will conduct a number of clinics on the game to United States Air Force personnel. .ATHLETES HONORED Tuesday's affair was tendered in honor of football and basketball basketball squadmen and managers, as well as cheerleaders, of Hinsdale C e n t r a l School. Besides Besides Mr. Sawyer, other honored honored guests at the affair were a number of coaches and athletic athletic supervisors of area schools including: "Bub" Fenton, Portville: Portville: "Ike" Kincaid, Cuba: Jerry Jerry Ottaway. Jack McNamee. St. Bonaventure College, and Francis W. (Hookey) Frey. Olean. The Hinsdale athletes were introduced introduced to the assemblage by Tom Colamonica, coach. Don Merriman. WHDL sportscaster, was master of ceremonies. Robert Robert K. Howe, Hinsdale Central School principal, was in charge of arrangemrtits for the affair and the dinner was served by thc cafeteria staff under supervision supervision of Mrs. Mildred Foils.
