With the aid of Mr. Jack Nelson, our Commerce Teacher we hope to present many interesting articles to you, our. readers. - • ' i . Vera Partlow . Senior News The Senior class at J. H. S. has had its Senior Play entitled "Stop the Wedding." ] We are now j in the midst of selling candy for the holiday seas- son, a 1 s'o we have commenced working on our annual the '.'Jeffer- soniari", which is being edited by Conita Smith. Class officers are: President Kay McFarland; Vive President - Biirwinslow; Secretary - Virginia Mewcom;Treasure - Judy Griffith; News reporter-Jerry Huff and Harold Lee; Class Spousor- Mrs. Isla Alexander. '. Juniors Junior class officers are: President - Jan Freeman; Vice President - Sam Thorp; Secretary - !arol Lindenmayer; Treasure .-: Joe Ploughe; News Reporter Bonnie Foutch; Student Council l Huff; Sponsor - Mrs. Naomi Schwear. . ; The Juniors sponsored a class upper which was very successful. We also gave away a clock von by Mrs. May McMullan, at .he Senior play. Conita Smith Band October 25 our band went to I. U. for Indiana State Band Day. We represented our county by being the only school to go. We had a wonderful time and wish to thank our director Mrs. Atkins for helping us prepare for it. At the first of the year we elected officers for the band. They are as follows: President - Sarah Skelly; Vice President - Vickey Rector; Secretary and Treasurer Bonnie Foutch; News Reporter Elaine Riddle; and Manager John Watson. We are hoping to have a good year for performances at the ball- games. Elaine Riddle Glee Club October 23 four girls from our school went to the Indiana State Teachers Association to sing in the choir. They are Sarah Skelly first soprano; Jeanie Hawkins second soprano; Donna Teter first alto; and Elaine Riddle second Alto. There were also two boys that went along, Joe Ploughe - tenor; and Jerry Thom'as - bass. There were 980 students present. November 17 our Glee club will perform at Kempton for the annual P. T. A. Thanksgiving program. We plan to sing "Green Cathedral", "The Lord's Prayer", and "I Hear. America Singing'. The elected officers are as follows: President - Elaine Riddle; Vice President - Gay Gossard; Secretary and Treasurer 3 Sarah Skelly; News. Reporter - Beth McWhirt; Librarian - Connie Duckworth. ' f Sharon Lowden Sophomores There are 31 members in the iophomore class this year, three 'f whom are new. They .are: itewart Carter, Douglas Brackens and Jon Afanador. Class officers for the year are: 'resident -Phil Burgan; Vice resident - Jon Afanador; Secretary - Sandy Sharp; Treasurer Ed Stouder; Student Council Mike Teter; News Reporter Larry Park; Sponsor -'Mr. Charles Richardson. We have sold, magazines this year for our first money making project. 1 Booster Club ; There are 92 members in the Booster club. We are going to try some new ideas this year for a yell block and • a pep band. We havent started out too good in basketball yet, but we are looking foreward to a better season. Booster Club officers arc: President - Jerry Huff; Vice President Judy Gr i f f i t h; Secretary- treasurer -- Aneta Rector, Nancy Lane; News Reporter - Bill Winslow, Lloyd Alexander.
