Ailing boys frock team 3rd of Algona's Bulldog Relays An in jury-ridden Humboldt track team finished third behind Class AA school Charles City and conference rival Eagle Grove at the Bulldog relays Monday at Algona. The Wildcats got their usual stellar performance from Duane Nelson and added a first by hurdler hurdler Dennis Hart in the meet postponed postponed from Saturday because of rain and cold. Nelson finished far ahead of the field in the mile run and paced himself to a 4:37 time, then later later anchored the medley team to a 3:37.8 win. Hart grabbed first in the high hurdles in 15.5 and got third in the 180 lows with a time of 21.5. In field events Jerry Davis unleashed his best throw of the season (152-2) to take second in the discus behind Webster City weight star Steve Wilson. Mike Allen leaped 5-10, also a personal high, to get second in the high jump, and Larson went 18-5 to earn his runner-up spot in the long jump. Randy Thompson got third in the shot with a heave of 44 feet and Mike Vandenberg took fourth in the pole vault at 12-2. Vandenberg came home with another fourth place finish-a 10.8 clocking in the 100-yard dash. Terry Brownfield ran a 2:09.3 HOW THEY FINISHED Class A Charles City 107 Eagle Grove, 81-1/2 Humboldt 70 Clear Lake 50-1/2 Webster City 34 Spencer JV 13 for fourth in the open half. Fifth place points were added by Scott Walters with a 25.1- • second open 220 and by Lynn Hagar in the two-mile run. Aside from the winning mile medley, three relay teams came in third for Humboldt-880, mile and two mile. Terry Ruby, Scott Walters, Gene Crist and Jerry Davis ran the 880.
