Nelson's half paces 'Cats at state indoor Led by Duane Nelson's fitst half-mile, Humboldt compiled 13 points Saturday to finish sixth in the Class A state indoor track meet Saturday at Iowa City. Nelson made it two wins in two meets this season by ripping off a 2:00.3 half, a good early season time, to win his event. Humboldt also got points from Mike Vandenberg's third place finish in the pole vault and Dennis Hart's sixth in the low hurdles. Although they didn't score the mile relay team of Terry Ruby, Shane Albertson, Scott Walters and Paul Larson ran 3:41.6 for seventh place. Paul Larson's 19-3 broad jump and Mike Allen's 5-8 high jump were not far out of the money, either. Humboldt opens its outdoor dual meet season by hosting St. Edmond Wednesday, April 5. The Wildcats will participate in the Holstein Relays April 7.
