161 MAJOR C. B. SMATHERS, GROVE CITY, IN COMMAND OF FIRST BATTALION. LIEUT H. K. GIBSON AS ADJUTANT. Camp Hancock, Augusta, -Ga., Sept, 10.—With all the splendor attaching a field army in review, but on a smaller scale, every unit of the 16th Regiment this evening participated in its first formal regimental parade on the new drill ground Colonel Rickards and his staff reviewed reviewed tho soldiers after they had formed formed in battalion formation and the "Star- Spangled Banner" had been played. It was an impressive sight. •„, Shortly Shortly before 5:30 the IBth Regimental Band appeared on the 'field, followed by the units of the First Battalion, commanded commanded by Major R. Galbrath, Jr., as Adjutant. These units arc Companies A. B. C. and D. Then ennjo the Second Battalion, Major Charles F.- Cb'de commanding and with Lieut. Frank Ruffing as Adjutant. Adjutant. 'As the colors passed, soldiers and civilians, watching the parade with keen interest, saluted or dotted their hats. It was the first time that the now Rcgirnen- (Continued on page 4.)
