Clipped From The Waterloo Press
Lake Shore Officials Busy. Within the past twenty-four hours Lake Shore inspection Engine No. 30 has made two trips over the division. This Is the engine that has the coach built on top of it, and is used solely for inspection purposes. Sharp-eyed officers alone ride on this "train" where the coach is directly over the boiler of the engine. To see thera go by at a forty-mile clip, you would think they did not "Inspect" anything, but that is where you have another think coming." As a mat ter of fact, this engine-coach is equipped with the costliest of mech anism, calculated to determine to a hair'sbreadth the condition of the roadbed. For instance, if between here and Brimlield there is a "low- joint" showing as much as the 16th of an inch out of line, or If a rail has 'crept" a minimum fraction of its length, lengthwise, sideways, or straight ud, there is a machine on tliis inspection car that registers ac curately exact conditions. It is all done to add to the safety of the public, and Is worth the price. Kendall- vllle Daily Sun.
