UDC announces Christmas plans The Robert E. Lee Chapter No. 305 United Daughters of. the Confederacy announced at I a recent meeting that t h e i r j Christmas meeting would be held Dec. 14 in the home of j Mrs. J. Earl Coleman, 429 Ford i St. A special Christmas program, and guest speaker will be pre-j sented along with the exchange of gifts, preferably made by I members of the group. j The meeting was held in the j home of Mrs. S. H. Loftin on i Prien Lake Road. Mrs. Lydia : Sweeney gave a resume of the ! works and life of Captain James Waddell, a Confederate hero of North Carolina, for the program. During the business session congratulations were 'extended to Mrs. Wilhelmina Lyles on being elected first vice president president of the Louisiana Conference Conference for Juvenile Correction Workers and to Mrs. Alton Jackson on her son, Captain James A. Jackson having been awarded the first and second Oak Leaf Clusters to the Distinguished Distinguished Flying Cross. Captain Captain Jackson has served for 12 months in Viet Nam 'as a helicopter helicopter pilot. The Educational Committee announced that Mrs. Lyles had sent letters to all the junior high schools in Lake Charles, urging the students to participate participate in the forthcoming essay contest.
