Word has been received here from Mrs E. J. Pennington, tbe deserted wife of the promoter. Pennington, whose escapades have been fully detailed in The Engfiara. announcing her arrival In London under an assumed name. This will be tb first Intimation to many that Mrs. Pennington haa again crossed the ocean In search of her erring husband, but she went nearly three weeks ago, and upon that mission. From Information furnished her Mr. Pennington has located him In a suburb of London, where he 1. living In retirement with tbe same woman who accompanied him to thla country Last winter, Mr. Durant. The particulars of tbe Pennington case are still fresh In the mind, of many. It will be remembered by Emql'ircr reader, that Pennington left thla country about 18P4. leaving hi. wife and several amall children In Arlington Place, where they have lived ever alnce. For a time the wife received long letter, from Penning- ' ton telling of the money he wa. making In I l-ondon with hla cycle motor and other won-J derful schemes. Subsequently hi. letters cam lea. frequently, until finally Mrs. Pen nington for a long time received no word from her husband whatever. In desperation she went to the British metropolis and found Pennington living with Mrs. Durant. He was wealthy and lived In fin style. The wife could do nothing and retnrned to America. I .eat winter Pennington came to this country and created a furore n Eastern circles. The news of his arrival reached Mrs. Pennington and she had him arrested. As a result the Inventor, who is i reported to be very tich. wss ordered by the i local court, to contribute to the support r-f 1 hi. family here. While Mrs. Durant was ! negotiating the terms if an amicable settlement Pennington slipped out of the country and returned to England, as It has since ! developed. Mrs. Pennington never received a cent, and has supported their children for more than four years now. Hei mission to England Is to bar the Inventor arrested and force a settlement. Friends of the deserted wife are expecting to bear from her every day announcing that she haa succeeded In accomplishing what she Journeyed to London for.
