TRIED TO SELL DEAD BODY. Young Attorney Accused of Violating Law, Possibly Through Ignorance. Richard E. Houren, a young attorney with an office in the Brandon block, who got Into trouble last Saturday on th charge of trying to sell a dead body, waa In the Police Court to-day to-day to-day and made ar rangements for the trial of his case next Saturday. When Robert Munson. an old man. was pushed against an iron cell In the police rtatlon and killed last Monday, his widow was left in destitute circumstances. On jjehalf of the woman. Houren made an erron to get Munson s effects at the police station and also to ascertain if he carried any insurance. When he found tnat Munson had -nothing -nothing of value, the young attorney made inquiries as to what wouid oe done with the body. - - He was told by a physician that the body probably would go to a medical college, as no provision was made for the burial. Houren is then said to have called the demonstrator at the Purdue School of Medicine and offered the body tor saie. wnicn, in itseii, constitutes violation of the law. The matter reached the ears of Coroner Tutewller and after an Investigation detectives detectives Kinney and Morgan made the arrest. Houren said he was acting solely in the interests or the widow and hoped to assist her. Members of the police de partment said tliey were conndent tnat Houren was Ignorant of the law, and tbat he was only technically guilty.
