PECATONICA Pecatonlca, 111., Oct. 8—The Help* Ing Hand society will meet at th» Congregational church Tuesday af* ternoon, being entertained by Mrs, Swan Karsk, Mrs. John ChadwlGk and Mrs. Ernest Schwartz. A benefit baseball game will be played here at Fairgrounds park Sunday, Oct. 9, at 2:30 p. m., be- ;ween the famous old Pecatonlca, Maroons and the Pecatonlca Cardinals. Cardinals. The Maroons played here 20 years ago, while the Cardinals are the present local team. The proceeds of the game will go to the Peca- tonlca Cemetery association. The Ladies' Aid of the Methodist Episcopal church will meet next Thursday afternoon. Hostesses ara Mrs. Pred Christen, Mrs. Henry Ferdinand and Mrs. Harold Dietrich. Dietrich. Roger Doty of this place and Led Spelman of Irish Grove purchased the Dalley Oil station at Durand and will conduct the business. The Woman's club will meet with Mrs. Margaret Hamilton Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 12. Mrs. Hamilton will have charge of the program. Mrs. Xi. J, Welnert attended the first concert of the Mendelssohn club at the Shrine temple in Rockford Rockford Thursday. George Janvrin has begun the erection of a bungalow on his property property in the west part of town. John DeGroote and family have moved from the Punnell flat to the residence of Mrs. Welgert In the west part of town.
