Dismissed' City Attorney Manning reported that liquor charges against John SUmach and Steve Duicli, recently raided and taken to County Court, on complaint of Chief of Police Herman Wllkenlng, were dismissed by the state's attorney on the ground they were secured on Information and belief belief and not through positive evl. dence. Another case against R. L. Calhoun for .assault was dismissed. The cases against John Stlmach, Stove Dutch, Mike Buchen in the 1 County. Commission wrote to the council that the petition to remove the Illinois' Terminal tower partly.in the roadway at the.Fergu son avenpo crossing was still on file with no record of any action taken It was (lied July 11, 1923, and appar ently an agreement was reached as the present councilmen did not remember remember exactly what was done about it. It is believed that the railroads consented to put In a crossing at that [ilace and furnish a depot for Wood River in lieu of moving the tower which would have been an -expenslvo proposition. The matter will be looked into. Letters were read from the Blue Goose, Purple Swan and C. & A. bus lines in which they agreed to run west on Lorena avenue and south OH Ferguson on their southbound trip to avoid traffic congestion on Fergu< son avenue. The council voted to install, eight new lights in Pcrshali'a addition and on'Second street. l
