7^4- Carroll (Im) Times Herald, Friday, April 22, American Legion Auxiliary Honors Its Past Presidents Past presidents of the American Legion Auxiliary were l|onored guests at a 6:30 potluck dinner of the Carroll unit in the Legion clubrooms last night. There were 12 in the group: Mrs. F. P. Collison, Mrs. Pete Jensen, Mrs. H. K ( !$raner, Mrs. TT J. Kerwih, Miss Agnes Kerwin, Mrs. T. F. tyiinlin, Mrs. V. V, Olesen, Mrs. L. R. Chapman, Mrs. Frank l£ister and Mrs. C. H. C^ark, past presidents of the Carroll t|nit, Mrs. F. C. Beverley, who has headed the Stuart unit, and Mrs. 0.*H. McCain/ the Jefferson unit. Mrs. Beverley and Mrs. McCain are members of the Past Presidents Parley -Dinner was served at a long;table long;table "centered with a miniature May pole and also decorated with May baskets. Mrs. Eddie Vander loo was in charge of dining room arrangements. , Short meetings of the Past Presidents Parley and also the writ's executive board were held JJefore the regular April: meeting the unit began. LA Pan American program on Venezuela had been arranged by jjrs. M. L. Collison. She presented presented six small girls who gave a folk dance. The youngsters were: Charlotte Conley, Mary Lou Madigan, Madigan, Lorena Hauser, Diane Rettenmaier, Rettenmaier, Sandra Langenfeld, and Peggy Blessington. Carol Collison was the pianist and Ann Kerwin, the narrator. .y.M # * * Mrs. J. J. Meyers told about her recent trip to Europe, during which she visited eight different countries. Clark, rehabilitation chairman, reported' that she sept seven decks of playing cards to the Veterans hospital in Des Moines. The next meeting will be May 19, when Gold Star mothers, sisters sisters and wives will be honored at a dinner. Neighobors Feted Miss Mildred Feld At Party Thursday Mrs. Leonard Schirck and Mrs Agnes Wiedemeyer gave a neighborhood neighborhood party at Mrs. Schirck's home northeast of Carroll yesterday yesterday afternoon for Mildred Feld, who will marry Joseph P. Riesberg Riesberg at 8:30 Tuesday morning, April 26, in the St. Lawrence church. The group of 33 played bunco during part of the afternoon. Mrs. John Loneman won the high prize, Mrs. Vernon Sanders, low, and Mrs. L. L. Akin, the traveling prize. A chair prize went to Mrs. William Timmerman. * * * While Mrs. John Hesslingh told a story, paper bags which she had distributed were passed among the group every time the word "shower" "shower" appeared in the tale. At the end of the story, each one received a small gift from the bags. Mrs. L. L. Akin told about her trip through the south by trailer- house during the fall and winter. After lunch was served, the bride-elect was presented with a miscellaneous shower. The gifts wera arranged under a decorated umbrella. Lutheran Women Meet For Birthday Social In the Church Parlors Hostesses at the Lutheran women's women's April birthday social in the church parlors yesterday afternoon afternoon were Mrs. William Schafer, Mrs. O. J. Peterson, Mrs. Cecil Crouse, Mrs. William Bodenschatz and Mrs. Harry Grimsman. Group singing of hymns opened the meeting.
