Girl bludgeoned to death at Olathe OLATHE, Kan. (UPI) - Authorities Friday searched for a 17-year-old Olathe girl who was apparently abducted in an incident that left her younger sister bludgeoned to death and a teenage brother seriously injured. The body of 12-year-old Janelle Duffield, a seventh grader at Indian Trail Junior High School, was found in her bedroom on the lower-level of the fam- ily's suburban Kansas City home about 5:30 a.m. Friday, authorities said. Both the young girl and her 15-year- old brother, Paul, had been beaten on the head, authorities said, while the children's father, John, was asleep upstairs. Police found the severely injured boy lying on the living room floor of the duplex. He was listed in serious condition Friday at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Merriam, where he had been transferred from the Olathe Community Hospital. Their older sister, Kelly Duffield, 17, apparently was abducted from the south-side home during the incident. She was reported missing when police were called to the scene at 5:16 a.m.
