Boys state is a plan for training n the functional aspect of citizen- hip. It is a program sponsored by he American Legion, Department if Illinois, Its purpose is to teach he youth of today constructive at- itudes toward the American form of government, Boys state at- empts to show that our scheme of ;overnment has not outworn its usefulness; that all a democracy needs is an inteligent citizenary and a clean, honest and impartial administration responsive to the ill of the people. The program originated in Illinois in. 1934, has been adopted by he "National organization of the American Legion and is now in iperation in 48 states.
