a COWBOY SPORT RALLY NEWS The members of the show committee and the people of Katy community were happy to have the opportunity to welcome back home and to honor one of its beloved citizens,, CMM R. E. Mctlroy, who recently returned from the Pacific area, at the show Saturday night. Mr. Mc- llroy was the center of attraction attraction in the grand eniry. After the riders had made their formation, formation, "Anchors Aweigh" was played,- honoring this distinguished distinguished man who has meant so much to the youth of Katy community community and :one of the many who is fighting so that the routh of America can enjoy the finer things of life. The show Saturday night was directed by a real tip-top cowboy, cowboy, Mutt Eversol. Mutt.had a good show and. some very interesting interesting contests. The calf tie down went to Buddy Dennison and second place to L. C. Jordan. The goat break away was won by Mutt Eversol. The steer staking contest contest went to George Nelson and Thomas Jones. Roger Hoyt made the only catch in the boys calf break away. Rogers got $4.00 in money money and three sacks of feed from Gray Lumber Company. -Gene Poorman, Joe Zubik, and John Brashaw entertained the crowd with some steer riding. riding. Gene Wasn't satisfied with one ride. He said he would ride 'em all night if they insisted. Mrs. Mutt Eversol took first in the ladies barrel race, Mrs. Blanche Pussel first in the flag race, and Elaine Avera won first in the beginners bell race. Eston Denny still holds the best time in men'sr calf break away, Lawrence Morgan 1st in boys, and Mrs. Blanche Fussel moved up to'first in the ladies flag race* Mrs, Gene, Hoyt won the bond Saturday night and Roy Beekendorff won the horse that was given* The chapter wishes to ex- pfess their sincere appreciation to Mr. -I. L, Southard for letting the chapter have the horse at half price arid-to; Mr. Hank Jordan Jordan for paying for the other half. Tfie money raised from the sale of the horse will be used to send the' P, F. A. boys on a trip it* King's ranch. L, D. RpbinsojKpresented the boys with FT. F. A. pins. Sateen Sateen boysi received their Green- hand Pins and 17 the Chapter Farmer Pin*. Bradley Sweeney was presented the Area Star Farmer Award and also the Lone Star Fanner Award. Nine boys were given F. F. A. rings for the outstanding job they did in raising money for the fat stock show ISst spring.
