Car Crunches Into Bridge, Kills Woman Hurls Victim at Windshield, Driver Hurt, Condition Fair By George A. Sorensen Tribime Staff Writer BENNION—A Kearns mother was killed Sunday at 4:50 a.m. when the car in which she was riding crashed into the east abutment of a narrow bridge at 2210 W, 6200 South. PRONOUNCED DEAD on arrival at Salt Lake General Hospital was Mrs. Rhea Gunhild Merriken, 47, 4311 W. 5740 South. It was believed t;he died almost instantly. Hospital attendants said Mj|. Merriken suffered head' and neck injuries, apparently when she was thrown into the windshield. DRIVER OF THE CAR was identified by Deputy Sheriff W. F. Lehman Jr. as. Robert E. Ford, 49, 92 N. Main St., former husband of the victim. HE WAS LISTED as fair at Holy Cross Hospital, where he is suffering from fractured ribs, lacerations of the face and leg and internal injuries.
