j r Glenn Rainer To Get Trip A Texas Tech sophomore from Lubbock, G1 e n n • Rainer, was 'named "community ambassador" from Lubbock for ,. two-month visit in Europe this summer at .a meeting of civic and service club representatives here last night. He was selected from five finalists which included Donnie Dean, Melvin Deardorff, E. A. DeShazo and Karl Dockray. Deardorff was named first alternate and Dean second alternate. Rainer, who is 19, will spend two months .in Holland, expense free. His expenses will be paid by Lu3- bpck civic and service clubs. Upon his return, the pre-law and accounting student will appear before the clubs, relating his experiences and telling of life as he finds it in Europe. Pleased With Results The project is being tried for the first time here .this year. Frank committees were "very pleased I with results this year" and indicat- ed it will be kept alive in the future. A total of 150 speaking dates have been arranged for Rainer upon his return. In addition he will make reports by mail while in I Holland. | Crowell said last night that 33 I persons applied in the initial call i for ambassadors. B. Rainer of 2605 30th. He | graduated from Lubbock High i School where he was photographer I for both the yearbook and the sru- ! dent paper. ! He is a member of the Tech ds- bate team and a representative to, the Student Council at the college from the Division of Business Administration. "I only hope I can do as much | for the people of Lubbock as they j have done for me by offering me this excellent opportunity," Rainer said last night He and the other finalists were questioned closely by the commit- j tee for over two hours before the | i decision was made. !
