Private telegrams received here to-day announce the death of the wife of Senator David Davis, of Illinois, at her old home in Stockbiidge, Mass. 'Mrs. Davis has been in poor health for many years, but her death was a surprise, as It was understood that she had experienced much improvement this summer. She was very much beloved and respected in Washington. Bpwial Telegram to The Inter Ooean.1 Bloobotok, HL, Nov. 10. Mrs. Judge Davis, wife of Senator David Davis, died at Lenox, Mass., last night Senator Davis and her son, George P. Davis, of this city, were with her at the time of her death. Mrs. Davis' maiden name was Sarah Walker. She was born at Lenox, Mass., in 1816, and was married to Senator Davis in 183a She was the mother of two children, both of whom are still living, George P. Davis, of this city. and Mrs. Swayne, who married a son of Judge Swayne, of Ohio. Mrs. Davis woman of loving disposition, modest demeanor, and a genuine quiet charity that won for her a warm place in the hearts of many poor people, who will bitterly mourn her loss. She was not a member of any church, but was a regular attendant of the First Presbyterian Church, of this city. Her health has been poor for several months, and she has been spending the autumn months on the seashore, where she contracted pneu monla, which was the cause of her death. The remains wfll arrive in this city on Wednesday night
