Melsheimer Investigates Death of Soldier
out Colorado to ier's Death Stumps Coroner CHEYENNE, Wyo., March 25 (AP) -- Coroner Wesley Schrader said he was "at the end of the string" in investigating the death Monday of a Fort Francis E. Warren sergeant whose body wis in his cabin camp home with his wife unconscious nearby. Schrader said he had found nothing indicating the cause of the death of Sgt. John R. Melsheimer of Chicago. He said he could do little but await findings by military authorities on specimens sent to Fitzsimmons hospital at Denver after an autopsy. The Fort Warren public relations office said Major James T. Carney, Melsheimer's battalion commander, had been appointed to investigate the death of Melsheimer and illness of his wife. A Fort Warren medical officer said Mrs. Melsheimer was able talk, described her condition as improved and reported she appeared to be out of danger. The coroner said ha virtually ruled out the possibility of gas causing Melsheimer's death.
