Forty-two work, men and women were driven into the street and many of them forced to jump from second-story windows by a fire which destroyed the mattress and furniture factory of the "William Pru-frock Furniture company here today. The fire was in the heart of the tenement district and fear of Its spreading, together with the smoke and heavy fall of cinders, forced thou sands of women and children to forsake their homes temporarily.
