- - - - UN SILVER MOUNTAIN. A great deal of exploration and development woik has been done recently on Silver mountain near New Denver, and with the moft encouraging results. For some years the California, and the Mountain Chief have alone attracted attention on the north western slope of the mountain, though there are well known properties on the eastern slope such as the Alamo and Idaho, All tins summer the owners of properties adjoining the California and Mountain Chief have been at work ground sluicmg and Jigging trenches. There was a great deal of wa - h to work through but the labor expended has been rewarded by several important strikes. Uu the Marion, owned by Ceo. Alexander, .1. Merino and Angus Mclnnes, two parallel leads carrying shipping ore have been traced across the property for several hundred feet. On the Noc.ich, belonging to N. (Jclhing, G. Aylard and Con Fielding, seven inches of galena have been uncovered. On the Eclipse four men are employed in driving an 80 foot tunnel to tap tie lead. The tunnel is already in 50 feet. H. T. Jiragdou, owner of the adjoining property, the Stella, ha a bond on the Eclipse. All these properties, and many 'others in the neighborhood, will be worked all the winter, and cabins are being put up to accommodate the men. Altogether there is considerable activity in that section of the Slocan mining division.
