Spar- Rostraver In Surprise Win Over Wildcats Stowe Township clashes with Swissvale in a WPIAL Class A quarterfinal playoff contest at the Pitt Field House tonight. Stowe, 63-60 victors over heavily favored Du-quesne last week, and Swissvale, who captured the Section 7-A crown Saturday, downing Penn Hills 58-50, will have the spotlight to themselves as no other games are on tap. Meanwhile, Farrell advanced to the semi-finals, dump- opringdale, 65-45, and ing Rostraver, the valley's only remaining Class A represent ative, moved to the quarter finals by upsetting Kittan- ning, 64-54 last Saturday. Rostraver, visiting the Field House for the third straight year. exploded for 26 points in the final period to drop heavily favored Kittanning, giving them the unenviable chance to meet unde feated Uniontown (23-0) in a quar terfinal contest tomorrow night. The score was tied et 2-2 and 8-8 in tht first period and was deadlocked at 10-10 as tht ttams moved into the second framt. Bill Emmingtr made hi first bucktt of the contest to give the Wildcats a 1M0 edge, but Herman B I i c k swished in a two-pointer for Rostraver, who continued to stay ahead and load at intermission, 26-21. Kittanning's big gun Charley Hutchinson tied the score, 29-29 at the 5:28 mark in the third pe riod, sinking a free throw, and Joe Atwood and Emminger con nected to give the 'Cats a 39-30 edge at the three quarter mark The teams again deadlocked the game, 42-42, 46-46, 48-48 and 52-52 before the Leopards shot ahead as Blick dropped in a lay-up to start the Green and White uprising. Willie Ross sparked Rostraver with 20 points, H in tht second half, and Hutchinson took game laurels, bucketing 23 tallies. Sparked by Brian Generalovicl' the Steelers moved into the second quarter holding a 15-6 lead and moved the count to 21-10 as Generalovich and Willie Somer set connected. Generalovich dropped in three more points before Willie Alford connected for a two-pointer, and Farrell went to the dressing room with a 30-17 advantage. The teams matched shots in tht tarly moments of tht third quarter, but Farrtll's defense was too much for the Dynamos of Springdalt. Somerset regained his all - state form, taking scoring honors with 23 points.
