SPRING AWARDS GIVEN TAFT GIRLS AT ATHLETIC BANQUET May 13. (Special.)—Spring •*• awards were mctcd to qualifying members of the Girls' Athletic Association of the Taft Union High School at the recent spring awards banquet held In the gymnasium. Sweaters, block Ts and numerals were handed out and a large number of new members were accepted. Sweaters were given to Margaret Thornton, Marjorie Elliot and Mary Deaubler. Block Ts went to Imogene Barber, Gladys Cooper, Rosina Cooper, Gerry Curtis, Alice Winter, Lorene Willis, Eleanor Antunez, Marjorie Schultz, Mildred Hill, Jean Eddinger and Evelynne Clinton. Numerals Awarded Numerals were awarded to Thelma Beck, Clara Bilby, Frances Gordon, • Angela Parcel, Dorothy Turner, Dorothy Moore, Virginia Cooley, Phyllis Bartlett, Virginia Donnell, Dorothy Harder, Julia Patterson, Evelynn* Kerr, Margaret Raley, Barbara Neal and Patricia Wright. An honorary gold block T was presented to Lucille Varner, president of the association. New members are Beverly Keene, lleen Kruger, Pearl Deckor, Martha Gamon, Lucy Ito, Betty Strickland, Betty House, June Haliburton, Alma Price, Barbara Stokes, Virginia Winslow, Joyce AVhimpey, Shirley Curran, Barbara Shugart, Rose Mae Vaughn, Edith Bryant and Dorothy Price. "Sunny California" The banquet was on the theme of "Sunny California" and decorations Included various flowers of the state. The banquet committee included Lucille Varner, general chairman; Ruth Scribner, decorations; Phyllis Bartlett, program; Cecllo Sirnrns, entertainment; Miriam Dyer-Bennott, initiations; Louisa. Maxwell, clean-up and Rosina Cooper, menu. Spring officers are Lucille Varner president; Rosemary Noakes, vice president; Mary Deaubler, secretary June Hanklns, treasurer, and Imo gene Barber, sports manager.
