Alderman McMillan said at City Council Monday' evening in commenting On the courageous act of James Hamelin, 19, of 170 Isabella street, who saved two poys from drowning in thej Rideau river on Sunday. Mr. McMillan 'pointed out the Hamelin- youth dashed into the water without hesitation and then with the assistance of Lester Sim-ser, 19. of 123 Harvey street, got the boys from the water after their ' row-boat capsized. He also pointed to the fact young Hamelin had revived the unconscious boy before police and firemen arrived on the scene. ' j t "This . boy knew something of . life saving methods and his heroism should be an Inspiration to (Aher boys to be prepared for such an emergency." - Alderman McCann said the ' playgrounds department might be able to use the services of such . a youth as a guard at one of the civic beaches this Summer. Mayor Lewis said this suggestion would be looked into.
