NEW COMMUNITY HOTEL AT LYKENS FORMALLY OPENED i Elaborate Ceremonies Mark Inaugural of Modern Enterprise Lykens, July 10. Elaborate ceremonies marked the formal opening of the Lykens Hotel, a new community enterprise, at a dinner held last night. The host elry, a 8200,000 project, is located at Railroad and Main streets, on the site of an old hotel. The building is modern in all respects and stands as a monument to civic co - operation in raising the funds with which to build the in stitution. Urtre Cooneratlon All speakers at the dinner last night urged the citizens of the borough to co - operate' in making the hotel a success. It. Coble, of Lykens, and president of the Ly - i kens Community Hotel Corpora tion, was me loasimasier. "You must let the people outside this community know the hotel Is - here," E. E. Beidleman, Harrisburg, former lieutenant governor, said. "Lykens is not a termi nal point and the success of this community enterprise depends upon the co - operation the backers receive from the townspeople." Mr. Coble, In introducing Mr. Beidleman, said he was known all over the State, but the main speaker of the evening replied that recent results - proved that he was unknown in Pittsburgh. Franklin Moore, manager of the Penn - Harris of Harrisburg, told the people of Lykens the can be proud of their hotel and urged them to give the sponsors their co operation. "The hospitality of a ho tel speaks well for the town and I am sure this house will be known for Its hospitality on the part of Irving Berry, the manager." Praises Valley Creation of th Lykens Trail was auggested by Jack Letton, of the Hotel Lycoming, Wllllamsport, He told th peopl they should capitalize the beauties of the Lykens Valley for touring purposes and attract motorists to us tb high ways running through Lykens.
