A curios !ty held by the Anderson Cottonwood Irrigation Wi trict is a human foot in E.andhtono that was dug up from tno bottom cf the main canal at tho out let of tho tunnel at tho intake. Th: foot is evidently that of a woman The outline is perfect even down to tho toes, the ball of the foot and the delicate lines of the Instpp. The specimen was dug up at depth of twenty feet, or below the glncial deposit of boulders and :; ravel that was mnde thousands of years 1 an.' n geolocishi measure time. The explanation of the find Is that, years and years ago, when the flat east of Redding was mud, on Indian maiden walked barefooted across the plain. Hor feet made a well defined Imprint, that wr.s filled np later in some flood drift by sand. The sand in lime turned to sandstone and made the rare spocimen now held by the irrigation district.
