The ga'lows was erected on an open square back of the jaiL Gaidry came forth hand cuffed, accom panied by the sheriff and another, who led the condemned up the stapa and placed him facing the east. He was atteaded by Father Charles and his filend. Gaidry mounted the gallows with, a firm fa tap. and wore a slouched, hat which was in due time removed by the Sheriff. Gaidry turned to his friend in answer to some thing said, which could not be heard by the crowd, and said " I am firm."
