The business transacted yesterday afternoon by the directors of the board of trade was mostly of a rou tine nature: but a feature of it was lh enrollment of 11 new members. Th rnmmittee on finances which now has under -consideration, the Ae- tnrminntion of a method by which anmn additional revenue may be raised to carry out some advertising plans of thn board reported satisfactory pro gress and was Instructed to continue its work. Thn committee on transportation which Is now considering freight rates, also reported progress, having hrt irntit meetings with a like com mittee from the Asheville Merchants association. j It was decided to ask Congressman .T M. (iiiduer. Jr., to attend as a dele ft the convention of the national hoard of trade which meets in Wash lngton January 17, Mr. Gudger being an honorary member of the local as- sociatlon; and also to ask Senator Lee a overman to attend the convention nf the National Good Roads associa tion which meets In Washington January 16-17. The following members were elected: Rev. C. B. Waller, Roger Lam-son, jr., 'S. P. Burton, second membership; Dr. J..B. Green, T. P. Johnson & Co., E. E. Galer, Dr. W. P. Her-bert, the Berlin, Seawell'B pharmacy, F. C. Gottsman and C. F. Ray. .
