The Geraci family planned to have a picnic area in conjunction with the park and expected to convert the well built barn into a dance hall. About 50 volunteers of the Warsaw Fire Department fought the blaze with water from tanker and pumper trucks and also used water from a nearby creek by using long hose lines. Chief Redding said the residence of Leo Hatfield, directly across the highway about 150 feet distant, was threatened by the Intense heat from the fire.
