Coast man sentenced A Fort Bragg man was sentenced to 10 years in state prison by Judge Timothy O'Brien yesterday for burglary and assault. James Steven DePriest, 29, admitted he entered the home of Mary Spini, 82, on the night of February 26, with the intent to commit a felony. In the course of the burglary, he beat Spini and inflicted injury that required hospitalization and y treatment in the intensive care unit. DePriest pleaded no contest to the burglary and assault charges. A second crime charged against DePriest involved a burglary of the Purity Market in Fort Bragg March 1,1981. At the time, the silent alarm was activated and DePriest was apprehended. At that time, he was identified as the burglar who beat Spini.. DePriest was given 10 years in prison for the burglary and assault and eight months for the Purity Market burglary.
