STAN DISH 9 ANN A memorial service for the late Ann Armour Standish will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, at the Grosse Pointe Congregational Church at 240 Chalfonte, Grosse Pointe, Ml. Mrs. Standish passed away on December 29, 2013. Mrs. Standish, who moved to Grosse Pointe at the age of eight, grew up on Rivard Blvd., and in 1958 married the late William Colburn Standish, Jr. The couple began their marriage by moving in to another house on Rivard, where they stayed for the rest of their lives. After graduating from Shimer College in Illinois, she began a career in public relations at Uniroyal and FTD Flowers. She then became involved in decoupage and managed the international Decoupage Guild headquarters from her home for nearly 20 years. For two decades, Mrs. Standish was very active in her church, creating a newsletter, handling files and, eventually, becoming its financial secretary. What free time she had was spent sailing, golfing, and taking annual trips for more than 50 years to a lakeside cottage north of Toronto where she and her husband relaxed in hand-made chairs amid the beauty of Canadian woodlands. Donations may be made to the Grosse Pointe Congregational Church, 240 Chalfonte, Grosse Pointe, Ml, 48236, or to The Players Club, 3321 East Jefferson, Detroit, Ml 48207
