sold his discovery to the diamond RELIEF EMPLOYES LEAVE BUILDING IN DENSE SMOKE Beach Front Hotel Threatened Threatened as Oil Burner Backfires Twenty - five men and women employes employes in the West Shore Branch of the State Emergency Relief in the Beach' Front Hotel building, Front street near Hauck avenue, Wormleysburg, fled to safety shortly before noon today when the build ing was threatened by fire. Mrs. Mary R. Taylor, Miss Mildred Mildred Frank, supervisors, and several of the women who were working on the second floor of the building discovered smoke coming out of the cracks of the floor arid walls. They informed other employes who walked out in dense clouds of smoke. The smoke came from an oil burner which backfired in the cel lar, William E. Myers, assistant chief of the v Wormleysburg Fire Department, said. The Wormleysburg Company checked the blaze before damage resulted. Mrs. Taylor summoned the firemen. Assistant chief Myers said that slight damaee resulted from smoke. Mrs. Taylor and her employes returned to work after the noon luncheon period, West Fairview Firemen and Earl W. Swartz, chief of the Harrisburer nre department also responded to tne alarm. 3 - -
