Alfred P. Boiler, Chief Engineer of the Hudson Railroad, described his plan for an East river bridge before tbe American Institute, last night, Tbe material to be used is Bessemer steel. The bridge, ox - tending from Chatham aquaro to the junction of Main and Fulton streets, will be of 1,350 feet span between tbe f wo shore towers, with a supporting tower in tbo middle of the river. Tho entire structure is to be elevated elevated above tbo peaks of largest ships. Tho bridge is to have two roadways of 16 feet each, and two sidewalks, each ot six feet in width. The deflection of the chaics is stimated at six feet, and for expansion aod contraction contraction under tbo beat and cold of our climate, Mr, B. allows for the entire bridgo 10.1 inches.
