GLADYS S. BYRNE Mrs. Gladys S. Byrne. 68. of 427 N. 9th St. died Wednesday, April 23 in a La Crosse hospital She was a member of the Catholic Women's Organization of St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral. Survivors are a son, Robert J. of Mondovi; a daughter, Mrs. William (Patricia) Merwin of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Woxland of Peterson, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Alma Fjeld of Winona and Mrs. Emil (Agnes) Betten of Rushford, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, in March 1974 and a son. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the South Side Blaschke Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral. Msgr. John Paul will officiate and burial will be in the Catholic cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p m Friday at the funeral home, with a Rosary to be at 7:30 p.m. RICHARD H. PATNODE Richard H. Patnode, 70, of 2501 S. 26th St. died Tuesday. April 23 in his home In 1939 he began employment with the Sisson Food Company, which was purchased by Gateway Foods. Inc. in 1944. At the time of his death he was sales supervisor and the longest-tenured employe of the company. He was a member of Badger Lodge 345 F. and A.M., the Eau Claire Consistory and the Zor Temple of Madison. Survivors are a sister. Mrs. Loraine Calkins of Lincoln. Neb : and a brother, J. Robert of Escondido, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife. Myrtle, June 26. 1973. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Dickinson Funeral Homes. JOHN J. JIRACEK John J. “Jumpy'' Jiracek. 73, of Stoddard died Wednesday, April 23. in a La Crosse hospital. He was born Sept. 14. 1901 in La Crosse to John and Barbara Jiracek. He had been plant superintendent at Auto-Lite before his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 315 of Stoddard and the Caduceus. Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Julia> Lassig and Mrs. Richard (Mary) Schnell, both of La Crosse; seven brothers, Thomas, Joseph, Edward and George Jiracek, all of La Crosse, and Henry, Walter and Robert, all of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his wife. Dora, Aug. 31, 1971 and by two sisters, Helen and Rose. Services will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in the Schumacher Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. in the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman. Msgr. John Paul will officiate and burial will be in Stoddard Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Rosary to be at 7 p.m. JOHN G. WUENNECKE NEW ALBIN, Iowa — John G. Wuennecke, 75, of New Albin died Wednesday. April 23 in his home. He was born Nov. 1, 1899 in rural Allamakee County to George and Margaret (Gade) Wuennecke. He married Ella Wiemerslage Nov. 22, 1923 in St. John's United Church of Christ, Wheatland. He was an area farmer until retirement in 1969. Survivors are his widow; two sons, Armin and Edgar, both of New Albin; two grandchildren, three sisters. Margaret Kurk of Eitzen. Minn . Dora Hegerfeld of Elkton, S.D.. and Mrs. Alvin (Hulda) Dierksen of Faribault, Minn. He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. John's United Church of Christ, Wheatland, rural New Albin. Rev. C. Kent Wever will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
