Poultry Unit Sets Meet T HE Utah Poultry and Farmers Co-operative will celebrate its 26th anniversary next month, marking 26 years of continuous growth into an industry that now does $20,000,000 of business a year. Pres. Horace. Nokes has announced the organization is now .made up of more than 6000 farmers and poultrymen in every part of Utah and southern Idaho, an organization --that ranks as the third largest poultry cooperative in the United States. . The general meeting of all members has been scheduled at the Hotel Utah, Feb. 26, according to Clyde C. Edmonds, general manager. An all-day meeting is planned to give members a complete report on the year's activities. Special meetings of the women's auxiliary will be held. Directors for 1949 will be elected. The annual meetings will be topped off with a banquet and dance. But before the big- state meeting, several regional conferences are being hehl for those who may not be able to get into the Gait Lake conference. limilar meetings will be at Fillmore anil either at Manti or Richfield, according to Mr. Edmonds. Dates for the two later meetings \\-ill be announced shortly. The first was -set for Preston, Ida., Jan. K2. Nitrate Increases Grains' Yields GILLETTE, Wyo.—Use of ammonium nitrate on dry land planted to barley resulted in ' noticeably increased yields of grain during 1948 although possibly not sufficient to offset the cost of .the .fertilizer, a report from 'the University of Wyoming Gillette sub-station farm indicate^. Barley plots treated with 100 pounds of ammonium nitrate per acre on April 16 and again on May 2 produced 41.60 bushels per acre this, fall, -according to Leland Landers, farm superintendent. Comparable check plots which got no nitrogen averaged 34.37 bushel* of barley per acre.-
