| Family Davenports get together The Davenport reunion was held June 10-11 beginning with a Saturday cookout at the home of Virgil and Irene (Davenport) Norwood, New Cambria, followed by a dance with the Bill Burrows Band. On June 11 a covered dish dinner was held at the United Methodist Church of the Cross, Salina. Entertaining were Elouise Pexton with a Hawaiian dance medley, Tina and Bill Burrows with a musical number and Dick Gough, who is 92, reciting poems. Attend Schaulis reunion The descendants of Ed and Elmyra (Brougher) Schaulis and Zach and Minerva (Berkley) Schaulis held a Schaulis family reunion June 18 in the Community Center in Wakefield. Eight states were represented in the 30 people present for the reunion. Family pictures on display for the reunion included the parents of Zach and Ed Schaulis. They were Alexander and Kate Ann (Weller) Schaulis of Brown County who had seven children — Will, Zach, Ed, Cora, Harvey, Gertrude and Harry. Also on display were pictures of the Ed and Zach Schaulis families. Family history collected by several family members was available for to see. Of special interest to those attend- ing were the large genealogy charts tracing the Schaulis families of Kansas back to the original immigrant, Sebastian Schalles. Sebastian's older brother, Valentine Schallus, stayed in the Philadelphia area and it was his son, Jacob Shallus, who was the calligrapher of the U.S. Constitution in September of 1787 when it was ready to be penned onto the four sheets of parchment. The family dinner was held at the Wakefield Restaurant. Attending from Salina were Dr. Brian, Audrey and Adley Schaulis, Blake Schaulis, and Bill and Audrey (Schaulis) Keeling. Zelenkas meet in Ellsworth The seventh Joseph and Katherine Mader Zelenka family reunion was held June 11 in the VFW Post 6485 home at Ellsworth, with Mrs. Elmer Erhardt, Mrs. Richard Urban and Mrs. Emil Soukup as co-chairman of the event. 61 descendants attended. Following a covered dish dinner, Mrs. John Zelenka introduced the direct descendants, who introduced their families. Clarence Zelenka, Ellsworth, 77, was the oldest descendant present; Chance Vopat, Wilson, 30 months, was the youngest; Winslow and Ruby Zelenka Janda, Wilson, were the longest-married couple at 56 years, and also the couple with the most grandchildren, 19, and the most great-grandchildren, 22; Tim and Veronica Vopat Kyler, Ellsworth, were the most recently married couple, 6 months ago; Charles and Lucy Vopat, Wilson, were the couple with the most children, 6; and Victor and Nancy Zelenka Harman, Garden City, were the descendents traveling the longest distance, 180 miles. A moment of silent prayer was observed in memory of James Urbanek, husband of Elsie Belt Urbanek; Ernest Schroeder, son of the late Genhardt and Mary Zelenka Schroeder; Gorden Belt, son of the late Walter and Annie Zelenka Belt, and Betty Urbanek Koerner, daughter of Elsie Belt Urbanek and the late James Urbanek. Following a short business meeting, in which a vote was taken to change the reunion date back to the former date of the last Sunday in July. The remainder of the afternoon was spent visiting , reminiscing and playing games. The next reunion will be held July
