EL PASO HERALD-POST, Saturday, February 6, 1971- Members Guild Shows New Acquisitions Public Reception Opens Display at E.P. Museum 8 $ 0 Jj A reception to open a display of graphics and paintings at the El Paso Museum of Art will be hosted by the Members Guild tomorrow from 2; 30 to 4:30 p.m. Forty paintings by the El Paso artist. Russell Waterhouse, will be on exhibit during the rest of February. Thirty of these have been loaned by the artist and the others are recent paintings which will be for sale. A DISPLAY OF graphics and other paintings will include the 15 new acquisitions purchased by the Members Guild from its Angel Auction, fashion show and International Film Classics fund raising projects. All are 19th and 20th Century American artists. The reception, open to the public, is under the co-chairmanship of Mrs. Melvin Sellers and Mrs. Tom Tietze. Greeting visitors will be Mrs. William C. Collins, Members Guild immediate past chairman; Mrs. George Hervey, new chairman; Miss Cynthia Collins, Sun Carnival Duchess representative and Mrs. 0. A. Toole, member of the planning committee. SAI Scholarship Given Musician Mary Maley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard W. Maley, 34-18 D o r n o c k street was awarded Sigma Alpha lota's spring music scholarship at a recent meeting by chapter president Elizabeth Geyer. Miss Maley has attended Incarnate Word College, San Antonio, and is presently a senior in music education major at UT El Paso. She has sung in opera excerpts and was a soloist with the chorale at Incarnate Word. She is a member of the University Chorale and has appeared as a soloist with the University Chorus, She sang for a lecture demonstration on art song repertoire at the NCMEA convention in Houston, and has performed at Sigma Alpha Iota events. SHE WAS pianist for the production of "My Fair Lady," vocal accompanist for the past MALEY TREASURE OF THE MONTH — El Paso Museum of Art is displaying the busts of two late El Paso clergymen in the Treasure of the Month case. The clergymen are Rev. B. M. G. Williams, who served the Church of St. Clement, Episcopal, and Rev. George Washington Burroughs, who served First Presbyterian. The busts were presented by Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Blanche. The sculptor is Audria Hayner Palmer. The busts will be on display through February. TV Movie Ratings The Herald-Post, in co-operation with the American Assn. NEW ACQUISITION — Mrs. William C. Collins, outgoing chairman of the Members Guild of the El Paso Museum of Art, and Leonard Sipiora, museum director, points out one of the new graphics by Manuel Acosta acquired by the Guild. It is called "Portrait of a Bov in a Red Poncho." Chance to Win Manuel Acosta Painting Given A chance to win a painting by popular artist Manuel Acosta will be a highlight of the fourth annual Religious Arts Festival to be held Feb. 14 at Hotel Dieu School Of Nursing Auditorium. Tickets for the painting will be available for a small donation. Admission to the show is free with viewing to begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday and continuing until the auction at 2 : 45 p.m. Local artists have donated more than 40 paintings to be sold, with others being shown for display only. A special section of miniatures will be featured in this year's show, providing an opportunity for art lovers to buy original art at a tiny price. Theme of the show is "See God's Love Through Art," and interpretation'of the theme is as varied as each artist's concept of religion. the week on television in "prime time," when children
