Man Catches Wife As Pole Snaps WASHINGTON Wl — A swaying pole snapped with a pistol-like crack Saturday night, plunging aerialist Elisabeth Nocks, 21, toward toward tanbark 55 feet below in the arnglihg Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus. Her husband, Joseph, 24, swinging swinging on the top of another swaying pole snatched at her arms. He caught her. Both slid safely down his pole to the ground. Mrs. Nocks performed a similar rescue for her husband in New York earlier this season when his pole snapped as they presented their act.
