enjoy to It of in at It R. 79TH ANNIVERSARY OBSERVED Mr. rfnd Mrs. Jaeob Shuck Hare Record Th»t Comes to F«* Saturday marked the ?0th wedding anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Shuck of Hawarden, pioneer residents of Union county, AH of their eight children gathered at the home Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Shuck in honor of the event, together with other relatives and a few close friends. The guests numbered 76 and dinner was served to them in cafeteria style. The afternoon hours were spent in a social way and at the close the honored honored couple was presented with a sum of money from the guests. A number of former Alcester friends and also Hawarden friends called on Mr. and Mrs. Shuck Saturday to extend extend congratulations. Mrs, Wm. Mueller Mueller and Mrs. Oscar Anderson of Alcester Alcester presented them a beautifully decorated decorated wedding cake when they called and on Sunday there were several other wedding cakes given them. They also received many gorgeous bouquets of flowers from their friends. Mr, and Mrs. Shuck greatly appreciated having having their friends and relatives call on them and greatly enjoyed their visits with all of them. Both Mr. and Mrs. Shuck were born in Scott county, Iowa, and were married married at Davenport. In 1885 they came to South Dakota, locating on n farm near Alcester. Twenty years ago they cume to Hawarden and have made their home in this city ever since. Two years ago their eldest daughter and her»httaband, Mr, and Mrs. J. B, Paine of Pollock, S. D., came to help look after their needs in their declining years. ^However, both Mr. and Mrs. Shuck, who are 93 and 88 years, respectively, respectively, enjoy good health for people people of their age. Mrs. Shuck especially especially possesses a keen and alert mind and recalls dates readily when speaking of tier earlier years. They have lost count of their descendants descendants but undoubtedly they number well over 200. Their eldest daughter, Mrs. Paine, has over 50 grandchildren. There is one five-generation group in the family, the members of which ai-e Mr. and Mrs. Shuck, Mrs. J. B. Paine, Mrs. John McBride of Pollock, S. D., Mrs. Shirley Heisenga and her son Robert, aged 6, of Shelton, Wash. There are several four-generation groups in the family. The children are Mrs. J. B. Paine and Carl Shuck of Hawarden; George Shuck, Wendell, Minn.; Bert and Perry Shuck, Alcester; Alcester; Mrs. Inez Fickbohm, Big Springs; Chas. Shuck, Burbank, S. D.; Harry Shuck, Westfield, There are 47 grandchildren. grandchildren. Other guests from out of town who were present Sunday were Mr, and Mrs, C. F. McCoy and Howard Shuck of Sioux City and Mr. and Mrs, Morris Mathison of Pollock, S. D. Ran Into Parked Car
