The death of Rev. A. P. Saunders - 1900
The death of Rev. A. P. Saunders, D. D., will bring sorrow to many hearts. He is cut off in tbe prime of life and in tbe midst of his useful? ness. Highly educated and cultured he was a safe instructor of the youth, and being adorned by tbe Christian graces, his entire life was devoted to the good of others. His great heart went out to the benighted, and bis strong desire for their deliverance from sin and idolatry induced bim to leave home and friends and labor as a missionary in a foreign country to the sacrifice of his health. With im? paired vigor and strength be return? ed to his home. To aid the widow and orphan in their struggle in life be founded the Home and ?School in Predericksburg and added the Col? lege for training the youth of the land They stand as monuments to bis use ful life and bis work of love. Aad it was fitting that he should have been laid to rest in our city cemetery in tbe very shadow of these monuments and where his memory will ever be treasured by the people.
