Y., WEDNESDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 29,195& * ATTENTION RESIDENTS ■ ULSTER CUUXTY KEEP YOUR IB HOSPITAL This hospital built by the people , to give local treatment to local people has served us well—and it still is needed here by local people. IT IS YOUR HOSPITAL ~ YOU HAY HEED TO USE IT YOURSELF TOMORROW Ihe following is a letter submitted at a meeting of the Ulster County Chapter, Gvil Service Employees Association: ” I he employees of the I Ister County Tuberculosis Hospital request request your eareful consideration of this petition relative to the pro• pro• posed closing of the hospital. Because of the conscientious discharge of our duties and the loyal service we have rendered to the County for nianv years, we have » • j accrued certain longevity and retirement benefits which would he lost to us should the hospital close. I hirty-six of the fifty-one employees are over forty-five years of age with twenty-five years of useful service ahead of them but are too old to participate in pension plans and too old to acquire benefits under Social Security. It would seem to be an unjust regard for the many years of true and loyal service for us to he obliged to seek other employment at a time when we are about ready to reap the benefits of our loyal and faithful service to the County. Although most of us could acquire new positions, we would he obliged to start at the bottom of the ladder without anv seniority rights which we feel we have earned through years of faithful service in our present capacity. During the past month we have been living under a cloud of uncertainty. uncertainty. 1 his is beginning to affect our personal lives and health, and the well being of ourselves and our families. We respectfully request request that, if it is at all possible, a decision be reached or obtained to enable us to resume a normal wav of living. Some of the employees have been offered other positions. They want to remain loyal to the County but at the same time are worried about their future and how they will live.“ February 27, 1956. The Hospital Staff is made up of local people who are giving devoted treatment to every patient. Hundreds of Kingston's most pfiblic spirited persons helped us to secure this hospital. hospital.
