1938 CM Brown speaks on State of the Nation
Charles M. Brown Speaks On State of the Nation Through the long years The Sun has always provided Charles M. Brown, San Bernardino county Democratic leader, with the space to say what he desires to say in connection with the state of the nation and the Democratic party. This year's message will be found in the "Voice of the People" on another page. Mr. Brown is a patriot. He serves his nation as his conscience guides him and that is generally through the Democratic party. There are dark hints that there is fighting on among the new insiders to take the high place Charles M. Brown has occupied for these many years. We would be willing to bet they can't do it. In this year's message to the voters Mr. Brown talks about the service the people of San Bernardino countv could not get "except through the gracious-ness gracious-ness gracious-ness of the President of the United States." And there is another reference that includes the phrase this district "must send back to Congress the man the administration wants." In those phrases can be found the political philosophy that makes it impossible impossible for this newspaper to see eye to eye with the venerable Democrat of the hills of ltedlands. We stand for a country that is operated operated by the people not by one man, regardless of how great he may be.
