Obituary John Hyrum Blomquist
Death Claims Ex-UP&L Editor at 60 John Hyrum Blomquist, 60 ; 2629 Melbourne St. (184E East), former editor of Utah Power & Light Co.'s magazine, The Circuit, died Friday at 10:55 a.m. in a Salt Lake hospital of a heart ailment. Mr. Blomquist worked for Utah Power & Light for 30 years, winning several awards for the Mr. magazine before Blomquist he retired in 1952 due to ill health. He was a member of Wasatch Wasatch Lodge 1 of the Free and Accepted Masons, and was a Knight Templar in the York Rite body. Born Feb. 24, 1898, in Salt Lake City, he was a son of Frederick and Mary Blomgren Blomquist. He married Altliea M. Brown Sept. 16,1920, in Salt Lake City. A veteran of World War I, iie was formerly active in the American Legion and the Disabled Disabled American Veterans. He wag a member of First Congregational Church. Survivors include his widow; :\vo sons, Donald Blomquist, Stockton, Calif., and Ray J. Blomquist, Salt Lake City, and three grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and three sisters. PUBLIC MASONIC funeral services will be conducted Monday Monday noon at the Masonic Temple, Temple, 650 E. South Temple.
