, TRAGEDY IN SOLDIERS' HOME. Inmate, Aged 73, Kills an Inmate, Aged 80, with a 'Cane After a Quarrel. BRISTOL, R. I., May 7. Following an altercation earlier in the day. James Mo-Kenna, an aged Inmate of the Soldiers' Home here, to-day, hit Albert Morris,, another Inmate, over the head with a cane, causing the death of Morris almost In-stantlv. McKcnna rushed from the building, but was captured shortly afterward by Capt. Morrlssey of the Bristol police. - When": taken to the police station McKcnna who Is 78 years of age, and who formerly lived In New Britain, Conn., confessed to the police that he had struck the biow. He said that during a quarrel earlier In the day Morris, who was 80 years of age. had thrown him to the floor and beaten him. McKenna told the police that he hid behind a door this afternoon, and when Morris appeared he sprang out and hit lilm with the cane. " I intended to do him," said McKenna. McKenna was locked tip to await further action. Both men- had been inmates of the heme for a number of years. .
