Mill HOT, QLD-lltn, DIES Resident of Butte Since 1877 Succumbs at Meaderville Meaderville Home. 1 William Hastie.'who had lived S6 of his 15 years in Bulte, coming here in 1817 when the town was still a collection of scattered cabins, died yesterday following a long illness. Death occured at the home of a daughter, Mrs, Bernard Hayes, 151 Matt street, Meaderville, where he had made his home for many years. Twenty-three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren survive him. Mr. Hastie was widely known among the old-timers on the "hill" where he had worked for most of the more than half a century he had lived nl the mining city. He was a native of the Isle of Man. In addition to the daughter, four sons, Chester, Vivian, Carl and Leslie, Leslie, all In Butte, and three other daughters, Mrs. Charles Glass in Boulder, Mrs. William Brennan and Mrs. Verne Dickenson, both of Butte, also survive.
