Since the railroad was finished connecting connecting the salt works on Petite Anse Island with the Morgan's Louisiana and Texas Bailroad at New Iberia . the business business .At the mines has greatly increased. They now send off from 150 to 175 tons of salt daily to New Orleans to be shipped to New York by sea, and to Chicago, Kansas City and elsewhere by rail and teanu. They employ about 125 hands al the mines, and these and their families make up a pretty lively little miners village. .
