Himes on Sunday, December 7, 1975 at the age of 68 years brought sorrow to the members of the Board of Directors of this Company. Swirles L. Himes was a close personal friend and business associate associate of the late founder of General Finance Service Corporation. He became a member of the Board of Directors in 1946 and served as its Secretary continuously until his death. Swirles L. Himes resided in Huntingdon. He was a well- known and successful attorney since 1931. He served as President Judge of the 20th Judicial District of Pennsylvania from 1953 until 1968 when he resigned to return to the practice of law. He was the senior member of the firm of Himes, Himes & Feltham, Huntingdon. Swirles L. Himes possessed rare intellectual prowess which was accompanied by impressive integrity. It was a rich experience to be associated with him on the Board of Directors of'this Company. His mind was receptive, retentive and ready. We all benefited from his sound wisdom and calm, thoughtful decisions. The weight given to his conclusions is demonstrated by the numerous times they influenced the action of the Board of Directors. Knowing that he was not in good health, he continued to attend the meetings of our Board and to give serious consideration consideration to the business at hand. To the last he gave his best. We admire and respect his memory for what he was. The Company has lost a valued asset and we have lost a good friend. Our sympathy is extended to his widow, Mrs. Hazel Himes, to his daughters, Mrs. Jerome P. Miller and Mrs. Dudley H. Feltham; and to his son, James E. Himes, all Huntingdon residents. This Minute will be spread upon the permanent records of General Finance Service Corporation and a copy will be sent to his family by the President of this Company.
