Violet Cox BROOKFIELD, El. — Violet M. Cox, 87, a former Ironwood resident, resident, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 1995 in'Brookfield. Violet was born Jan. 8, 1908 in Ironwood, daughter of the late Joseph and Eliza Hocking. In December December of 1921 she was married to Victor Cox. He preceded her in death Nov. 3, 1957. She worked as a house mother in the dorms at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. She was preceded in death by two daughters in infancy; five brothers, Harry, John, Joseph, Christopher, and Leonard Hocking; Hocking; and two sisters, 'Beatrice Taylor and Caroline Frangquist. Survivors include a daughter, Ethel Mae (Everett) Mayo of Brookfield; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl Magnuson and Mildred Hovanec; and a brother, Fred Hocking. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 8,1995 at 11:30 a.m. at the Chappell-Zielinski Funeral Home, Ironwood, the Rev. Pamela Pamela Kail officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral funeral home from 9 a.m. until service service time Friday. Spring burial will be in Riverside Riverside Cemetery.
