j i OPERATORS GIVEN DIM VIEW OF FILM FUTURE KANSAS CITY. (API -- A gloomy report from the boxoffice was laid today before the opening of the .biennial convention of the Internationa! Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employes and Moving Picture Machine Operators. Richard P. Brous, president of Fox Midwest Theatres, Inc., told the convention that unless business picks ;ip the industry is headed for the poorest year since the depression. He said the average weekly paid attendance at the nation's motion picture houses dropped from S2 million in 1946 to 46 million last week -- a 45 percent slump. He called for a realistic approach to the problem, and ; ^ _ ^ _ the assistance of the union in getting more patrons back to i ; i j j : ; w movie houses. l
