Youth Drowned In Yough Lake the superintendent was coal The district's third drowning in two days occurred yeslerday aflernoon at the Youghiogheny Reservoir. Randall Jeffrey Cook, 15, of Canonsburg, Canonsburg, drowned while swimming in the swimming area on the Somerset County side dl the Route 40 bridge, which separates separates Fayetle and Somerset Counties. The youth was on a high school field t r i p which was to conclude with swimming. swimming. The victim was dead on arrival at Uniontown Hospital at 2:50 p.m. He was with seven other studenls and two instructors who had made the trip to the reservoir by bus, on a volunteer ecology project. They were said to have been collecting collecting water samples, Ihen went lo tho .swimming area. The boy was reportedly swimming w i t h several companions when the others lost sighl of him. His body was brought to Ihe surface une ol the instructors. Efforts were made lo revive him by means of arti- licial respiration. A large crowd was at the recreation area at the time, and Reservoir Manager Manager Hurl McVicker was summoned. Marclay ambulance took the victim t h e hospital, as well as one ol the instructors. Charles Slemanda, 23, of Pittsburgh, who was treated for shock. An autopsy was to be performed in Washington Hospital.
